During a search of a home in Niagara Falls, ON, multiple improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were found prompting an investigation by the Niagara Regional Police. The incident unfolded on September 4th when authorities responded to a residence on Beaver Glen Drive following a report of a possible suspicious device.
Upon arrival, police officers conducted an initial search of the home and uncovered several dangerous devices. As a precautionary measure, nearby homes were evacuated and the Explosive Disposal Unit was requested to the scene. Expert explosives officers assessed the devices and safely removed them to a secure location for further examination.
In a news release, the Niagara Regional Police confirmed that the devices were determined to be improvised explosive devices in various stages of completeness. The explosives team successfully rendered the devices safe, ensuring the safety of the surrounding area. Residents were allowed to return to their homes at approximately 3pm after the area was deemed secure.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
