Niagara Falls Police were patrolling the City Market in front of Dollar General around 7pm on August 5th when officers observed a red motorcycle with two passengers. The motorcycle did not have a license plate, but instead had a temporary driver’s license taped to the rear of the vehicle.
Officers activated their overhead emergency lights and attempted to perform a traffic stop. The motorcycle failed to stop and pull over, continuing to go northbound. As officers were advising dispatch of the motorcycle, the operator attempted to take a left on Elmwood Avenue and struck a parked Chevy Impala.
Both occupants were ejected from the motorcycle when it crashed into the parked car. The male driver abandoned his female passenger and attempted to flee the scene. He did not get very far. Officers quickly apprehended him and he was taken into custody. Both parties sustained injuries. Medical arrived shortly thereafter to render first aid.
While performing a search of the male, officers found a silver container with what appeared to be blue pills. Detectives arrived to take possession of the suspected narcotics for testing. If found to be narcotics, the male would be charged at a later time.
The female passenger of the vehicle was found to have active warrants for petit larceny and was placed in custody as well. Both parties were transported to the hospital for treatment by AMR. The male was given an appearance ticket, as well as multiple uniform traffic tickets at the hospital, and released from police custody. The female was also issued an appearance ticket and released from police custody.
