Mayer Bros Cider Mill, a beloved local establishment, has announced a delay in its fall opening this year. Located at 3300 Transit Road in West Seneca, the Cider Mill will open for the season on August 14th, approximately a week and a half later than in previous years.
The decision to postpone the opening was made to align with the start of the Erie County Fair and to better capture the essence of the fall season. Traditionally, the Cider Mill's seasonal reopening coincided with the commencement of the Erie County Fair, serving as a reminder that summer was drawing to a close. This year, store manager Samantha McGranor explained that they wanted to wait until after the fair's start to signify the beginning of fall and to cater to the fall market.
McGranor shared that many customers expressed their reluctance to bid farewell to summer, stating, "Most of our comments are, 'No, we're not ready for summer to end.'" Despite this sentiment, the Cider Mill aims to embrace the changing season and offer its patrons a delightful fall experience. Mayer Brothers Cider Mill will still be the go-to place for a parade of fall flavors.
In addition to the delayed opening, visitors to Mayer Brothers Cider Mill will notice a few changes. The exterior American flag bunting has been replaced with maroon, orange, and yellow flags, reflecting the vibrant colors of autumn. Furthermore, the Cider Mill has listened to customer feedback and decided to bring back its original pie recipe, adding to the nostalgic experience for longtime patrons. The popular frozen apple cider slushies, hot apple cider, and cider doughnuts will also make a return maintaining the same prices as last year.
McGranor attributed this consistency to a successful apple crop this year, allowing the store to avoid outsourcing apples from other growers. While Mayer Brothers Cider Mill prepares to open its doors, other local cider mills are also gearing up for the fall season.
With an abundance of apples from their own crop, customers can look forward to enjoying the same high-quality products that have made the Cider Mill a cherished destination for generations. For more information, visit the Mayer Bros website.
