An Oregon man was apprehended and charged with indecent exposure on Wednesday, July 3rd after allegedly urinating in the aisle during an American Airlines flight, according to an announcement by the U.S. District Attorney's Office. The incident occurred on July 3, when a flight from Oregon to New Hampshire was diverted to the Buffalo Niagara International Airport following a call to the NFTA Police.
The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Neil McCarthy, reportedly exposed himself and urinated in the aisle while the plane was in flight. Upon landing at Gate 2, an officer boarded the aircraft and spoke to a flight attendant who confirmed the incident. McCarthy was subsequently taken into custody and escorted off the plane.
If convicted, McCarthy could face a maximum sentence of six months in prison and a fine of up to $5,000. He made an initial appearance in court on Wednesday afternoon and was released on his own recognizance.
