Niagara Falls, ON authorities are searching for a man who allegedly shot a one-year-old husky, leaving the dog in critical condition. The incident occurred early Saturday morning, just after 3:30am., prompting an emergency response from the Niagara Regional Police Service.
Upon their arrival at an apartment building on Jepson Street near Victoria Avenue, officers discovered the injured husky and quickly transported her to an Emergency Veterinary Clinic. There, vital lifesaving measures were implemented to stabilize the dog before she was transferred to the Peoples Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). She has since been moved to a veterinary clinic outside the region for further treatment.
According to reports, the male suspect was visiting residents in the apartment when he attempted to display a handgun he had tucked into his waistband. The firearm discharged, striking the husky. Following the incident, the suspect fled the scene with the weapon.
The NRPS K9 Unit conducted a thorough search of the area but was unable to locate the individual. Authorities have identified Anthony Angoy, 26, from Thorold, as the suspect. He is wanted for several criminal charges including careless use of a firearm and failure to comply with a probation order.
