A man found himself in need of rescue after he jumped into a creek to save his dog at Ellicott Creek Bark Park on Saturday morning. The incident occurred around 9:45am when the 39-year-old Kenmore resident was walking his dogs. One of the dogs slipped down a steep embankment and into the water.
According to Amherst Police, the man entered the creek to retrieve his pet and successfully brought the dog back to safety before emergency responders arrived. However, he was unable to climb back up the steep slope on his own.
Emergency crews from Amherst Police and the Ellicott Creek Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene and assisted both the man and his dog back up the embankment. The man was then transported by ambulance to Kenmore Mercy Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
