Man Pleads Guilty After Assaulting His Defense Attorney

A Buffalo man has pleaded guilty to assaulting his defense attorney. Londarr S. Ward, 40, admitted to the assault charge on Friday, June 28th, according to an announcement by the Erie County District Attorney's Office.

The incident took place on September 27, 2022, during a meeting inside the Erie County Correctional Facility. Ward, who was in pre-trial custody at the time, punched his defense attorney in the face with a closed fist causing injuries to the victim's face, shoulder, and chest. The motive behind Ward's assault on his defense attorney remains unclear. He is scheduled to be sentenced on September 23rd and is facing a maximum of seven years in prison on this offense.

This assault comes in the midst of Ward's legal troubles. He was arrested earlier this year in connection with a series of convenience store robberies. In April, Ward was sentenced to 46 years in prison as a second violent felony offender. The charges against him included four counts of first-degree robbery and one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
