A Jamestown man was arraigned on Monday, June 17th and charged with murder in connection to the tragic death of an 8-month-old baby according to the Chautauqua County District Attorney's Office.
The accused, 26-year-old Sean Thomas, appeared in court after being indicted on charges related to the murder of baby Aniyah Turk. The incident, which occurred on April 22nd, allegedly involved Thomas intentionally strangling and shaking the infant. As a result of the violent act, Aniyah suffered severe injuries and was placed on life support. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries in May, as confirmed by officials.
Sean Thomas now faces an eight-count indictment, including charges of second-degree murder and other related crimes. During the arraignment, the court set bail for Thomas at $1 million cash or a $2 million property bond. This substantial amount aims to ensure his presence in court throughout the legal proceedings. Thomas is scheduled to return to court in July for further pre-trial proceedings.
As the legal process unfolds, the community is urged to respect the privacy of the family and refrain from speculation. The support and compassion of the community will be crucial in helping them navigate through this difficult time.
