Rashaan Mallory, 29, from Buffalo is accused of kidnapping a woman and discharging a weapon at a youth football game in Buffalo on Sunday. The incident began when Mallory forcibly took a male and female into his car, driving them to the football game location near Koons Avenue.
Once there, he proceeded to rob two individuals during which one of them was shot. The victim, a 31-year-old man from Rochester, sustained injuries in the shooting. The incident occurred around 11am.
Following the shooting, Mallory attempted to flee the scene with the female victim still in the car. He had taken her phone to prevent her from seeking help, likely threatening her that she could also be shot if she tried to escape. However, officers quickly spotted his vehicle at the intersection of Koons and Sycamore Street. He was ordered to exit the vehicle, but did not comply. Instead, he put the car in reverse, which resulted in a crash.
From the crash site, officers recovered a loaded firearm. Mallory, who is currently on parole, now faces a multitude of additional charges, including second-degree attempted murder, second-degree kidnapping, first-degree assault, first-degree robbery (three counts), second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, second-degree menacing, and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
