A Buffalo man was arraigned on Tuesday for an alleged execution-style killing that took place at a Jamestown apartment complex in January. The Chautauqua County District Attorney's Office announced the charges on Wednesday, July 17th.
Darius Kadenhead, 33, is accused of shooting 28-year-old Marlon Clay in the back of the head on January 22nd at the Parkview Apartments on W 4th Street. Clay's body was discovered two days later. Kadenhead was apprehended in Buffalo on January 25th.
According to prosecutors, Kadenhead had been on parole for four months after being released from state prison for a prior manslaughter conviction at the time of the alleged killing. He now faces charges of second-degree murder for the January incident. In addition to the murder charge, Kadenhead is also being prosecuted by the Erie County District Attorney's Office for a new weapons charge. He was allegedly in possession of a loaded gun when he was taken into custody.
Chautauqua County District Attorney Jason Schmidt emphasized the importance of public safety in a news release, stating, "Taking Mr. Kadenhead off the street on those charges satisfied our public safety concerns, which are always our number one priority when investigating violent crimes. And gave us the time needed to continue our efforts to develop evidence which we eventually presented to a Grand Jury."
