A Jamestown man is now in custody after allegedly stabbing a victim multiple times in the head on Thursday morning. The Jamestown Police Department responded to a distress call just before 7:30am at a residence on the city's east side.
According to the police, 25-year-old Robert BD Brinkley is accused of repeatedly stabbing the victim, causing severe lacerations. The victim was immediately rushed to UPMC for urgent medical treatment. After conducting a thorough investigation, authorities located Brinkley inside a Jamestown apartment at approximately 12:49pm.
The police had obtained a warrant to search the premises and Brinkley was apprehended and taken into custody without incident. However, while being escorted to the city jail, Brinkley managed to escape from the officers on foot. A brief foot pursuit ensued and Brinkley was eventually captured and taken back into custody. Brinkley is currently being held pending arraignment on several charges, including first-degree assault, first-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and first-degree escape.
The Jamestown Police Department is working diligently to ensure justice is served in this case. They are urging anyone with additional information to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation. The motive behind the attack remains unknown at this time.
