Niagara Falls Police responded to the area of 1925 Main Street around 9:00am on May 9th after reports of a black male displaying a knife around the rear gate of police headquarters.
Upon arriving at the location, police observe the male on the sidewalk walking, although he did not have a knife displayed at that time. Officers stopped the patrol vehicle and started to exit when the suspect retrieved a butcher knife from his waistband and tossed it onto the ground.
Officers ordered the suspect onto the ground and to lay on his stomach, which he did. The suspect appeared mentally unstable as he was not making any sense while talking.
The suspect was booked at police headquarters. No further information is available.
