Niagara Falls Police responded to the Rite Aid on the 1000 block of Pine Avenue around 1145 hours on Sunday, June 5th, 2022, after reports of a shoplifter. Dispatch advised that a white male stole two 18 packs of beer and walked out of the store.

While responding, police observed a white male standing on the corner of 10th and Walnut Avenue holding an 18 pack of beer. Upon being approached by police, the male admitted to taking the beer and said he would give it back.

The merchandize was returned and he was transported to police headquarters for processing. During processing, it was discovered that the male had initially given police a false name and date of birth. He had initially told police his name was Michael R. Stewart. However, his real name was Douglas Roberts.

Roberts was discovered to have two outstanding warrants. One from the City of Niagara Falls and a bench warrant out of Tonawanda. Despite that, he was released on an appearance ticket.
