Burglar Who Breaks Through Walls to Gain Entry Into Businesses Caught on Camera
Niagara Falls Police responded to Deveaux Mini Mart on the 2600 block of Main Street on June 26th after a glass break burglary alarm. Little did law enforcement know that the male responsible for a string of burglaries in Niagara Falls would be caught on camera, showing them how he gains entry through walls.
Upon arrival, police did a perimeter search where officers observed two holes in the rear of the building wall. The damage appeared similar to the recent string of burglaries throughout the city. Officers then established a perimeter around the building.
The owner arrived and granted officers access to the inside of the building. Officers then made entry and cleared the building with negative results.
It appeared the unknown suspect made entry and walked south down a hallway leading to a steel door. The suspect used an object to break a deadbolt lock off the door. However, the door remained locked. There was a hole to the right of the door where it appeared the suspect attempted to break through the wall with no success. Officers then observed a closet further to the right of the door where another small hole was located in the cement.
Reviewing camera footage, officers observed a black male wearing a face mask breaking into the building at 6:48am. It appears the subject used a mallet to break through the cement before entering through the wall. He remained inside the building until 7:50am. The suspect then jumped over the rear fence which led to the train tracks. It is unknown which direction he went after.
While speaking with the owner, officers asked what the suspect may have taken. At this time the owner did not know. No further information is available.
