Niagara Falls Police responded to the 1300 block of Elmwood Avenue around 1am on January 5th after reports of criminal mischief that was later changed to an assault.
Upon arrival, officers spoke to the complainant/victim who stated that at approx. 12:05am an argument ensued with her male roommate over personal matters. Specifically, the argument was about the roommate’s divorce.
It is unknown if the complainant and roommate were in an intimate relationship, which would make this a domestic violence incident.
The argument began to escalate and the roommate threw a computer valued at approx. $150 on the ground breaking it. The complainant then attempted to close her bedroom door and get the roommate out. It was at this point the roommate became violent. The roommate started striking the complainant in the face several times and pushed the door back on her.
The complainant was transported to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She wished to press charges.
Offices placed the roommate under arrest and put him in the back of a marked patrol vehicle. He was transported to police headquarters for booking and processing. While there, he collapsed and told police he had taken “ten lorazepam” earlier that night. He was transported to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for treatment.
