Male Driver Flees Hit-and-Run Accident, Leaves Female Passenger at Scene

Niagara Falls Police responded to the area of Ontario Avenue around midnight on February 3rd after reports of a hit and run crash where the suspect fled the scene.

While en route to the area, NFPD dispatch advised that the suspect had just left the scene of the crash walking eastbound on Ontario Avenue. Officers responding to the scene located the suspect within minutes of him fleeing and transported him back to the scene.

At the scene, multiple witnesses positively confirmed that the suspect was operating his motor vehicle during the crash and left the scene on foot. He was immediately transported to police headquarters for booking and processing.

A female who was still at the scene approached officers and advised them that she was in the front passenger seat of the suspect’s vehicle at the time of the crash. She advised officers they were at a local bar and left to go somewhere else. While driving, the suspect crashed into a parked vehicle. It was at this point the suspect fled, leaving his female passenger.

The female complained of a head injury from the crash that required medical attention.

While at police headquarters, officers performed standard field sobriety tests on the suspect, which he failed. He was charged with driving while intoxicated.

No further information is available at this time.
