Niagara Falls Police responded to the 200 block of 74th Street around 11:00pm on June 28th after reports of a male breaking into a home while the owners were in their backyard drinking and playing cornhole.
Upon arrival, police spoke to the complainants, a husband and wife, who stated that a white male suspect entered their house through an unlocked front door and stole a gold ring valued at $2,500, a white gold necklace valued at $600 and some costume jewelry valued at $150 from an upstairs bedroom.
The husband stated that they had some friends over and were drinking in the backyard playing cornhole. His Ring video doorbell activated motion at 7:35pm and the video showed a white male, short brown hair, and a beard enter through his unlocked front door. The white male suspect exited the home at 7:30pm and continued north up 74th Street towards Stephenson. The husband did not see the notifications until the suspect had already left.
Once he saw the video, the husband jumped into his truck and searched the last known direction of the male suspect. He soon came across the male at a park on 74th Street sitting on a bench with a black male.
The complainant husband confronted the white male and a physical fight broke out. The white male, according to the husband, beat him up rather badly. He was struck several times on the right side of his face and was in substantial pain. Officers did observe redness, swelling and blood on the right side of the complainant husband’s face while interviewing him. Officers then observed the Ring video doorbell footage which confirmed the information given by the complainants.
Another officer did locate a black male matching the description of the male that was with the white male in the park. He stated he was at the park when a male he knows as “JJ” approached him. While they were talking, two older white men approached JJ and a fight broke out.
Around the same time, officers located the white male suspect under the LaSalle Expressway off of 77th Street.
He was transported back to the crime scene where he was positively identified by both complainants. The white male suspect was transported to police headquarters for booking and processing. No further information is available.
