Ka-ching! Burglar Steals $400 in Quarters from Bottle Redemption Center in Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls Police responded to the ECO Friendly Can and Bottle Redemption Center on the 1100 block of Whitney Avenue around 6:00am on June 14th after reports of multiple burglaries - one of which where the burglar cashed in with $400 in quarters.

Upon arrival, police spoke to the owner who stated he arrived at the business and observed the south door to be ajar with two holes in the cement walls near the doors. The power box cover was removed and frames dented. At this time, the complainant stated he did not notice any damage or anything stolen from inside, just the damage.

However, the complainant then told police a similar incident happened on June 13th. He arrived to the business that morning and observed damage to his power box.

He reviewed camera footage and observed an unknown male in a tan sweatsuit with his face covered damage the power box. He then entered the south side door.

The complainant does not know how the male suspect got in the door. He said it was possible the door was unlocked. Regardless, there was no damage to the lock or door.

Due to the male suspect cutting the power, no alarm went off. The male took approx. $400 from the coin exchange box. The complainant stated he did not think to report the incident because it was extremely difficult to see specific features of the suspect along with him thinking it would not occur again.

The estimated damage to the wall is approx. $1,000. No further information is available.
