Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen recently opened up about his intimate proposal to actress Hailee Steinfeld revealing the emotions and excitement that surrounded the special moment. The couple got engaged last month during a picturesque lakeside setting and Allen shared his thoughts in a Q&A for Steinfeld's Beau Society newsletter.
Reflecting on the proposal, Allen recounted a humorous exchange they had just before he popped the question.
"The funniest thing was that we woke up and were getting ready for brunch, and you jumped on the bed and said, 'Can we get married already?! What are you waiting for?!'" he recalled. He playfully responded, "Just give me a little more time." She was unaware that he was about to propose in the coming hours.
The 28-year-old QB admitted that he was pretty nervous about Steinfeld discovering his plans.
"I think I was most nervous about you finding out about the proposal," he wrote. "It was hard to keep secrets from you and have other people in your life keep secrets from you." Throughout the day he found himself emotional, often tearing up at the thought of them sharing the rest of their lives together.
Allen had carefully prepared what he wanted to say during the proposal, and he was pleased to see Steinfeld impressed by the floral arrangement he had created.
"I said I couldn't wait any longer," he shared. "I said I can't wait to start a family with you. I said your full name, and I asked you very nicely. I said please."
He expressed relief that everything went smoothly, stating, "You were extremely surprised, you said yes, and that was all that mattered to me."
Allen described the feeling of being engaged to someone as special as Steinfeld as "unbelievable." He praised her for being loving, caring, and fun, highlighting the joy she brings to his life.
Steinfeld also contributed to the newsletter, sharing that the couple is not yet ready to disclose their wedding plans.
"All the happy tears have just barely dried," she noted. "Whenever we tell the story, look back at photos, or even say 'We're engaged' or 'We're getting married,' I start crying."
The couple announced their engagement on November 29th, sharing a romantic photo on Instagram that captured the moment Allen got down on one knee surrounded by an arch of pink and red roses. The date of the proposal, November 22nd, was simply captioned in their post.
