Josh Allen Proves Critics Wrong After Historic First 100 Games

Josh Allen: Proves Critics Wrong After Historic First 100 Games

As Josh Allen took the field this week for his 100th career game against the New York Jets, one can't help but recall how the Buffalo Bills QB has faced a wave of criticism throughout his career. Labeled as "overrated," a "turnover machine," and a "one-man band" by pundits, Allen has often been the subject of debate among fans and analysts alike. However, the numbers tell a different story - one that firmly establishes him as one of the best QB's in the NFL.

Since being drafted in 2018, Allen has consistently ranked among the elite in key performance metrics. He currently sits seventh in Expected Points Added (EPA) per play among quarterbacks with at least 2,000 dropbacks and he ranks second in quarterback wins with 67, as well as tied for third in playoff victories with five.

His impressive track record has earned him a spot in the top five of MVP voting in three of the last four seasons. Allen's dual-threat capability has also led to staggering offensive statistics with a total of 234 career touchdowns (passing, rushing, and receiving) through his first 100 games. This impressive total places him second in NFL history trailing only Patrick Mahomes.

From 2020 to 2023, he recorded the most touchdowns (174) in a four-year span. In terms of total yards, Allen ranks third in NFL history for the most yards gained in the first 100 career games with 27,646 yards, just behind Mahomes and Matthew Stafford. His rushing ability has also been remarkable. He surpassed Cam Newton in rushing yards among QB's during Monday night's victory against the Jets. Currently sitting at 3,789 yards, he is just behind Lamar Jackson and Michael Vick.

Allen's record of 56 rushing touchdowns through his first 100 games is the highest in NFL history. He also holds the record for the most games with both a passing and rushing touchdown with 38 such. With the victory against the Jets, Allen not only added to his impressive win total but also propelled himself into the top 10 for victories through a QB's 100 career starts in NFL history.

With each game, Josh Allen proves that he is not just a one-man band but a key player in the Buffalo Bills' pursuit of a Super Bowl.
