Passion
Frank’s journey began at a very young age when he developed a fascination and love for the art of sound. During his younger years, he would regularly record and create his own radio shows and audio productions at home on cassettes. He began to develop his passion professionally years later by enrolling in the Communications program at Buffalo State University, where he learned the craft under the mentorship of some of the best broadcasters and audio producers in Western NY. Frank graduated with honors in 2003 and has been an adjunct lecturer at Buffalo State ever since, helping to teach the craft to future generations of broadcasters.
Achievements
During his 20+ year career, Frank has worked for several radio stations in WNY including WWKB, WHLD, WECK, WLVL & WEBR. His passion specifically lies in working for locally owned and community-focused stations, where he feels the future of the radio industry resides.
Frank has been nominated for several awards over the years, and won a pair of NYS Broadcasters Awards for “Best Commercial” and “Best Station Promotion” for small market stations.
In addition to his production duties at WEBR & WLVL, he also does freelance commercial voice and production work which have appeared in multiple regional TV and radio advertisements. He also does work at the national level as a fill-in radio news anchor.
Community Engagement
Frank often participates in station community events, either in the form of broadcasting live on-air, helping with the technical setup, or just being around to lend a helping hand. He also regularly aims to produce content that will help community organizations, local businesses, and many others to help spread the word. He also enjoys mentoring those with a passion for the business, and has worked with several interns over the years.
Impact
Frank feels his greatest impact is in helping to give a voice to people who are trying to tell their stories, whether it’s in short commercial form with a local business trying to promote themselves, or in long-form productions like feature-length shows and podcasts where countless types of stories from the community are told.
Looking Ahead
Frank lives by an industry saying that “you’re only as good as your last performance,” and never takes a day in the business for granted. As such, he remains dedicated to continuously improving his craft by learning new technologies, keeping up with current industry trends, and continually moves forward to try and find that next great sound. He’s also always on the lookout for that next great story that needs to be told. In regards to the radio industry, he feels that as the national media conglomerates continue to get bigger, the need for local media content will grow even stronger.
