Niagara Falls Police responded to the 300 block of Rainbow Boulevard (City Parking Ramps) in Downtown Niagara Falls around 9am on December 3rd after reports of an unwanted person that was later changed to menacing with a weapon.
While en route, dispatch stated the suspect was a black male wearing a camo style jacket and gave his last known location. NFPD officers, along with NYS Parks Police, located the suspect at 3rd and Niagara Street. Officers then attempted to locate the 911 caller who shortly thereafter arrived at that location.
Officers spoke with the 911 caller who stated he works for the City of Niagara Falls as a Deputy Director. He advised that the suspect was unwanted in the City Ramps and, when asked to leave by another employee, pulled a knife on that employee.
Officers then spoke to the employee, a maintenance worker for the City of Niagara Falls, who was called into the parking ramp to assist with removing the suspect. He advised the suspect he needed to leave at which time the suspect said that he could “take him” in a fight. While the suspect was packing his belongings, he pulled a large kitchen knife from his jacket and asked the worker if he “through he could take him now.”
Officers placed the suspect into custody and recovered the kitchen knife. He refused to sign a trespass notice and told police that, “he could threaten someone while in a parking lot” if he wanted to.
He was transported to police headquarters for booking and processing. No further information is available at this time.
