Parents Kate and Stephen were visiting a neighbor when their 12-year-old daughter, Evelyn, alerted them to the fire. The daughters followed the family's fire escape plan, leading to their survival. Unfortunately, despite being included in the plan, their six-year-old dog Mabel did not survive.
The family credits the girls' survival to the meticulous home escape plan they practiced. The fire resulted in an estimated $400,000 worth of damage, with the cause remaining unknown. The community has rallied around the family, with a friend starting a GoFundMe page, raising over $20,000 within the first three days.
