A Rochester man was apprehended on Thursday after a police pursuit ended with a vehicle crashing into a building on Niagara Falls Boulevard, according to a statement released by the New York State Police. The incident unfolded following a larceny complaint in the Town of Niagara.
Authorities received information about a Nissan Rogue, allegedly driven by 31-year-old Jazzmyn D. Barber, who was suspected of being involved in the larceny. At approximately 7:30pm, police located the Nissan traveling south on Niagara Falls Boulevard in the Town of Wheatfield. They attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the vehicle failed to comply.
Due to safety concerns the pursuit was terminated. However, the Nissan was later discovered after it crashed into the Scottish Inns on Niagara Falls Boulevard near Arnold Drive. While a passenger in the vehicle managed to flee the scene and evade capture, Barber was located by a New York State Police K-9 unit.
Barber now faces multiple charges including third-degree unlawfully fleeing, second-degree reckless endangerment, driving while intoxicated - drugs, and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operator. He has been handed over to the Town of Niagara Police Department to face additional charges related to the alleged larceny.
