A series of chilling social media posts from Chianti Means, a 33-year-old mother who threw herself and two young children over Niagara Falls, have surfaced shedding light on her emotional struggles in the weeks leading up to the incident. Means, who was a resident of Niagara Falls, reportedly expressed deep heartbreak over a separation from her children's father shared under the name 'Diamond Scott.'
On the night of October 28th, Means stepped over the guardrail at Luna Island, and investigators have since determined that the jump was “intentional.” She leapt from Luna Island, a secluded overlook on Goat Island, along with her 9-year-old son, Roman Rossman, and 5-month-old baby, Mecca Means. It is now being reported by multiple outlets that both children were thrown over the falls before Means jumped herself.
New York State Police confirmed that the father of her children is not suspected of any involvement in the deaths.
In her haunting posts, Means wrote, “I wish someone would love me because the man that’s supposed to does not.”
In another, she expressed her longing for her family, stating, “Everyone please leave me alone I’m in love with my daughter’s father. I want my family back. Respectfully Idgaf what I said about him before or what anyone else thinks!!”
Means also shared reflections on love and loss, writing, “You have to hold on to the ones you love. Never know when you might lose them.”
In a candid exchange about her relationship, she remarked, “Cause I was a dumb a– pregnant bit** who swore up & down I ain’t want him.”
Despite the emotional weight of her posts, police have indicated that no foul play is suspected in the incident. State troopers stated, “The investigation has determined that this incident was intentional in nature, though the circumstances remain under investigation.”
Recovery efforts have been extensive but have yet to yield any results. Search teams have been scouring the lower Niagara River for any signs of the victims deploying boats along the river and utilizing drones and helicopters to assist in the search. Volunteers have also been using binoculars to scan the shoreline.
The powerful currents of the river pose a significant challenge. Bodies that go over the falls are often carried downstream with many victims washing up at the Niagara Falls Power Vista or further into Lake Ontario.
Authorities caution that it may take days or even weeks for them to be discovered. It depends entirely on the current of the Niagara River.
Means was known for her work as a domestic violence counselor and had graduated from a school in Buffalo.
