Four 14-year-olds have been arrested and charged in connection with the theft of a vehicle in Lockport according to New York State Police. The incident occurred earlier this week when police reported that they observed a 2002 Toyota Camry fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Ohio Street and West Avenue shortly after 3am on Sunday.
When officers attempted to pull over the vehicle, the teens fled the scene and ultimately crashed into a fence on Vine Street. After the collision, all four individuals exited the car and fled on foot but were later apprehended by law enforcement.
Investigators revealed that the car had been stolen without the owner's knowledge, noting that it was left unlocked with the keys inside. The teens have been charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property while two of them also face additional charges for resisting arrest.
Following their arrests, the teens were processed and are scheduled to appear in Family Court later this month.
