Former Niagara Falls Police Officer Pleads Guilty to Rape

Martice D. Porter, a 22-year-old former Niagara Falls Police Officer, has pleaded guilty to the crime of Rape in the Third Degree. The announcement was made by Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman, who expressed his disappointment that someone entrusted with upholding the law had instead violated it.

Porter admitted to engaging in sexual intercourse with an underage female in 2023 during his short tenure as a police officer. Seaman addressed the case, stating, "It is an unfortunate and regrettable thing when someone who is charged with upholding the law instead transgresses it. I hope that the defendant being held accountable will help the victim of this crime move forward."

The District Attorney commended the Niagara County Sheriff's Office for their diligent and professional investigation into the matter. Martice D. Porter is scheduled to appear in County Court on October 8th for sentencing, presided over by County Court Judge John Ottaviano.

The guilty plea carries a potential prison sentence of up to 4 years for Porter. Additionally, he will be required to register as a sex offender.
