Niagara Falls Police responded to Walmart on Military Road around 4:30pm on November 21st after reports of a fight. However, there was also a reported theft from Marshalls in the same plaza that involved the same suspect.
Upon arrival, officers were flagged down in the pickup area between Walmart and Hobby Lobby. They were met by a suspect who was already detained. The suspect was transported to the front of Walmart and used the asset protection office there for processing.
Police spoke with an employee from Marshalls who stated that they observed the suspect select 8 items of clothing valued at $238.93. When the employee approached the suspect, he “took off running” towards Walmart.
The suspect reported to police that after he stole from Marshalls, and while in the Walmart parking lot, he was beat up by two unknown white males. He said this was due to the males being unhappy with him shoplifting. Despite complaining of back pain he refused medical treatment. Police attempted to learn more information about the assault to which the suspect replied, “I’m not snitching.”
The suspect was issued an appearance ticket and trespass notice. No further information is available at this time.
