Firefighter Suffers Medical Emergency During Fire in Niagara County


North Tonawanda Man Among Five Arrested at Recent Darien Lake Concerts


A volunteer firefighter from the Frontier Volunteer Fire Company suffered a medical emergency while battling a fire early Sunday morning according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.


The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call at 1:30am reporting a Structure Fire at 2164 River Road in the Town of Wheatfield. Upon arrival, Deputies found heavy black smoke coming from the detached garage. Nearby residents were evacuated to safety.



During the course of the fire operations, a Volunteer Firefighter from Frontier Volunteer Fire Company suffered a presumed medical emergency and fell down a flight of stairs as a result. The 41-year-old male was transported by Tri-Community Ambulance to ECMC for non-life-threatening injuries.


There is no property damage estimate available at this time and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Niagara County Fire Investigation Unit.
