A Niagara Falls Police officer was assigned to work Walmart detail around 2pm on November 23rd when he was notified by an asset protection investigator of theft caught on camera. The assignment of additional officers over the last several months at Walmart is due to an uptick in theft cases.
According to the investigator, an employee who “was just terminated” had selected a case of beer valued at $22.88 and passed all points of sale without rendering payment for the item. The officer confirmed this via security footage. The firing was reportedly unexpected and he did not take it well.
The suspect was located on the sidewalk in front of the grocery entrance and was taken into custody without incident. He was released with an appearance ticket returnable at Niagara Falls City Court.
