A person was left seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle near Highmark Stadium following the Bills game on Sunday. According to Orchard Park Police, the incident occurred at 41 W. Abbott Grove.

At approximately 4:49pm, authorities received reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle. Witnesses at the scene attempted to prevent the alleged operator, identified as 40-year-old Alfred Santiago, from driving away as the victim remained trapped underneath the vehicle. Santiago chose to flee the scene, maneuvering through traffic and even driving on the grass.

The victim sustained extensive upper body injuries and was transported to ECMC ambulance. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed at this time.

Santiago was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident without reporting, felony DWI (Driving While Intoxicated), and felony aggravated unlicensed operation due to a previous DWI conviction. He also faces other vehicle and traffic charges. It is anticipated additional charges will be brought against him as the investigation progresses.
