Niagara Falls Police were on routine patrol when a blue dodge caravan nearly struck the vehicle in front of them as it failed to stop at a stop sign. Officers estimated the dodge caravan’s speed to be 70MPH.
Officers activated their patrol lights and sirens to attempt a traffic stop. However, the dodge accelerated and ignored the lights/sirens. Down the street, the vehicle slammed on its breaks and activated its hazard lights.
The driver side door flew open and the operator of the vehicle began to flee down the sidewalk. Officers gave verbal commands to stop running, but they were ignored. Officers then chased after the male who, inexplicably, took out a slice of pizza from a bag and began eating it. He was instructed to place his hands behind his back, but he remained non-compliant.
According to the official incident report, the male claimed he was an “agent sent by God.”
Officers could smell a heavy odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath and observed glassy/bloodshot eyes. The male accused the officer of “smoking crack,” “raping his sister,” and that he “had sexual relations with my mother.” He was placed under arrest and brought over to their patrol vehicle.
The male refused to take part in standardized field sobriety tests. He would also not submit to a chemical test. Officers transported him to police headquarters for booking and processing. No further information is available at this time.
