Niagara Falls Police responded to 27th Street around 8:30pm on September 4th after reports of a motor vehicle accident with airbag deployment.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the female driver of a white Toyota who stated she was traveling eastbound when a black Lincoln traveling westbound failed to stop at a stop sign and struck her vehicle.
Officers observed both vehicles to have significant damage and airbag deployment. The black Lincoln was turned around. AMR and fire were already on scene prior to officers’ arrival. All parties involved declined medical treatment.
Officers then made contact with the male driver of the black Lincoln who was observed to be unsteady and swaying back and forth. The male was asked where he was coming from and stated, “Logan steak house.” When prompted if he meant to say Longhorn Steakhouse, he said yes.
The male admitted that he had “two” alcoholic beverages while there. While interacting with him, officers observed slurred speech and alcoholic beverage odor emanating from his breath.
The male refused field sobriety testing, was placed in the rear of a patrol vehicle, and read his Miranda Warning and DWI refusal. He was issued traffic tickets for failing to stop at a stop sign, being an unlicensed operator, driving while intoxicated, and having no insurance on the vehicle. The black Lincoln was towed.
Officers transported the male to police headquarters where he was booked, processed, and placed in a cell. No further information is available at this time.
