Devastating Fire Kills Dog, Causes $125k in Damage

In a devastating incident, an early Tuesday morning fire engulfed a home in Buffalo's Lovejoy neighborhood resulting in the loss of a beloved pet and causing approximately $125,000 in damages, per city officials.

The fire broke out at around 2:30am on the first floor of a residence situated on the 300 block of Benzinger Street. Firefighters swiftly responded to the scene, battling the intense flames that threatened to consume the entire house. Despite their valiant efforts, they were unable to save the life of a dog trapped inside the burning home.

The blaze ravaged the house and caused significant damage to the tune of $125,000. The extent of the destruction was not limited to the affected property alone. Three neighboring residences suffered exposure damage estimated at around $20,000. Additionally, a nearby vehicle was also impacted by the fire.

City officials have initiated an investigation into the cause of this devastating fire that killed a dog and caused more than $125K in damage. The Lovejoy community is rallying together to support the affected family during this difficult time.
