The Oswego County Sheriff's Office has announced that the remains of a man who disappeared at Niagara Falls State Park over 30 years ago have finally been identified. The man, Vincent C. Stack, went missing on December 4, 1990, and it was believed that he had gone over the falls.

On April 8th, 1992, Stack's remains were discovered on the shore of Lake Ontario, specifically at Novelis Point, just outside of Oswego. It is estimated that Stack traveled approximately 15 miles to the mouth of the river and then over 130 miles across Lake Ontario over the course of 16 months. Despite efforts to identify him at the time, they were unsuccessful.

In 2022, the Oswego County Sheriff's Office renewed their efforts to identify the remains, which were in a badly decomposed and mostly skeletal state. Through the use of DNA samples and collaboration with Canadian police, Stack was finally identified.

The police have also stated that they are actively working on other cases involving missing persons and unidentified remains in the Lake Ontario area.
