A horrific car accident on Monday night has resulted in the death of a 23-year-old man and left a 3-year-old girl in critical condition. The incident occurred around 9:40pm at the intersection of Sheridan Drive and Essjay Road.
Authorities reported that the crash involved a Chevrolet Impala, driven by a 23-year-old man from Williamsville, who was traveling eastbound on Sheridan Drive. The vehicle was struck by a Honda CRV, operated by a 35-year-old man from Amherst, who was making a turn from westbound Sheridan onto southbound Essjay.
The impact of the collision was severe, causing the Impala to burst into flames. Despite efforts by first responders, the 23-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 3-year-old passenger in the Honda CRV sustained serious injuries and is now at Oishei Children’s Hospital where she is in critical but stable condition.
The 35-year-old driver of the CRV was also taken to ECMC. His injuries are reported to be non-life threatening.
