Cracked out male tells Niagara Falls Police he doesn't want to go to Jail

Niagara Falls Police were on routine patrol around 2am on October 28th when officers observed a suspicious vehicle that pulled into a driveway, sticking out half way into the alleyway, in a "known drug area."

Officers slowly drove passed the vehicle. As they did so, the vehicle backed up and took off quickly heading southbound. Officers did catch up to the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle complied.

Officers approached the vehicle and identified the male driver who is known to NFPD as he has a previous gun conviction and "is a top GIVE offender."

Officers observed the male to be sweating profusely which was odd given the 40 degree temperature outside. He was also shaking, avoiding eye contact and kept reaching around the vehicle.

While interviewing him, officers asked the male to exit the vehicle due to his behavior. He pretended to comply but then put the vehicle in drive and fled from officers at a high rate of speed failing to stop at all stop signs.

The vehicle eventually stopped and surrendered. Officers placed the male in handcuffs and secured the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle with negative results.

“I didn’t want to go back to jail due to possessing crack,” explained the male to officers.

No crack was found on his person or in the vehicle. Police believe it was likely discarded during the chase. The male was issued several vehicle and traffic violations and the car was towed. No further information is available at this time.
