The iconic Como Restaurant on Pine Avenue is preparing for a grand reopening under the new ownership of Ujjal Aladin. With an aim to serve its popular Italian cuisine by the end of June, Aladin is excited to bring back the beloved dining experience that locals and visitors have cherished for decades.
The Como Restaurant has been a family affair for 96 years and Aladin is committed to continuing this tradition.
Aladin has made clear that his family love Niagara Falls. He recently had been quoted saying, "I love the Italian people. The previous owners had a deep appreciation for family and history, and I want to carry that forward."
Aladin and his family immigrated from Bangladesh four years ago and have since made Niagara Falls their home. Their dedication to the community is evident as Aladin's 19-year-old son, who recently got married, is studying for a real estate license with aspirations of managing the Como in the future.
The announcement of the Como's sale in 2020 took area residents by surprise. Diners flocked to the restaurant during its final days to savor one last meal before its temporary closure. Now, as the dining room remains unchanged, adorned with autographed pictures of famous celebrities and the cash register still resting atop the counter where Dominic Colucci once greeted diners, Aladin is eager to welcome back hungry customers.
Located in the heart of Niagara's Little Italy at 2220 Pine Avenue, the Como Restaurant holds a special place in the neighborhood's history and heritage. Aladin assures patrons that the cuisine will remain unchanged with the same menu and recipes that have delighted diners for decades. Many of the familiar faces among the staff will also return including members of the Colucci family, the original owners.
While satellite locations like Como by the Airport and the Como Deli in Lewiston have closed their doors, the original Como Restaurant will continue to host banquets which have been a significant part of its business. Over the years, the Como has been the venue for countless wedding receptions, graduation parties, and funeral luncheons.
With the Como Restaurant's rich history and Aladin's commitment to preserving its traditions, the reopening of the Como will bring a renewed sense of vibrancy to the Pine Avenue neighborhood and the entire Niagara Falls community. Hungry customers will soon be able to indulge in the same authentic Italian cuisine and warm hospitality that the Como has been known for throughout its storied history.
