12 days after the tragic accident that left Klaw Reh, 17-years-old, fighting for his life, family and friends are rallying support from the community. The teen was on his way to school when he was struck by a City of Buffalo garbage truck.
The incident occurred on October 2nd just before 8:30am on Rhode Island Street. According to Buffalo Police, Reh was hit when the garbage truck backed up at a high rate of speed.
He was immediately transported by ambulance to Oishei Children's Hospital where he underwent surgery for "severe internal injuries." Police have revealed that the driver of the garbage truck did not possess a valid license at the time of the crash.
As Reh remains in critical condition, loved ones set up a GoFundMe campaign to assist with medical expenses and support during his recovery. The campaign has already seen thousands of dollars raised, but they are nowhere near their goal.
