Census Worker Knocks on Wrong Door, Beaten Senseless By Niagara Falls Man

Niagara Falls Police responded to the 4800 block of Lafayette Circle around 7pm on June 29th after a census worker knocked on the wrong door and was beaten senseless by a homeowner.

Upon arrival, police spoke to the victim who stated on today’s date at approx. 6pm he was going door-to-door to collect information for the U.S. Census. He mistakenly knocked on the wrong door (he was one house to the left) when he made contact with a male homeowner.

The victim was trying to tell the male that he was a census worker and that he must have knocked on the wrong door. The male exited the residence and pushed him. The victim attempted to catch his balance, at which point the male pushed him again. He fell to the ground and scraped his left arm and elbow.

The victim raised his clipboard to shield his face at which time the male punched him in the face right below his right ey causing massive pain and disorientation. Officers did observe a substantial amount of swelling under his right eye and blood coming down his left arm. The victim was transported to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for treatment.

The male suspect was not apprehended as of the time of this report. No further information is available.
