Cement Truck Rollover Crash Leaves One Hospitalized

A cement truck rollover crash in Amherst resulted in one person being hospitalized with minor injuries on Wednesday morning, according to the Amherst Police Department. The incident occurred when a Niagara Falls man driving a cement truck collided with a passenger vehicle.

Officials reported that an 80-year-old woman from North Tonawanda was driving a Chevy Impala eastbound on North French Road approaching Millersport Highway. The cement truck, driven by a 59-year-old man, was traveling behind the Chevy when it rear-ended the vehicle. The impact of the collision caused the cement truck to swerve to the right and roll onto its driver's side before coming to a stop.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the driver of the cement truck had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was then transported to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. Fortunately, the occupants of the Chevy, including the driver and one passenger, did not report any injuries at the scene of the accident.

The Amherst Police Department is currently investigating the crash and no charges have been filed at this time. Authorities are urging any witnesses to the incident or drivers with dash camera footage to come forward and contact the APD at (716) 689-1311.
