Stargazers in Niagara Falls and around Western New York have a unique opportunity to witness comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) lighting up the sky soon after sunset. Although the comet continues to fade with each passing evening, it will remain visible through the weekend in the western sky.
In Niagara Falls, there are several vantage points for optimal comet viewing! This includes the following locations:
-Niagara Falls State Park
-Prospect Point
-Queen Victoria Park (Canada)
-Table Rock Visitor Centre (Canada)
-Rainbow Bridge
On Friday evening, the sun will set at 6:27pm followed by a slightly earlier sunset at 6:25pm on Saturday. With mainly clear skies expected, conditions will be ideal for observing the comet each night.
For the best viewing experience, using a smartphone or binoculars is recommended. Sunset is also a favorable viewing time.
