Niagara Falls Police responded to the 7-Eleven on the 2800 block of Pine Avenue around 3:30am on June 27th after reports of a burglar smashing glass to gain entry into the store.
While en route, dispatch advised officers the owner of the store stated his cameras were not working in the store and believes they were disconnected. Upon arrival, officers observed the building to be dark and the front door window smashed. Officers made a perimeter around the building while officers entered the building to make sure no one was in the building.
Officers entered the store with negative results finding anyone inside. While searching around the store officers did observe damage to the electrical box that was located on the side of the building.
The owner arrived on scene and stated that around 2:24am he got a call from the alarm company and went to check his store cameras from his phone but nothing was showed up. He went inside the store and tried to pull up any camera footage from his computer but was unsuccessful because the power was disconnected.
It is believed the only items taken by the suspect were Newport cigarettes. The owner is unsure how many the suspect took. The estimated cost of the damage is approx. $2,500. No further information is available.
