A school teacher from Buffalo Public Schools, James Damon, recently received an unexpected surprise - tickets to the Super Bowl LVIII happening in Las Vegas.
This comes after he had an unfortunate encounter in December while driving on the Scajaquada Expressway. Damon’s car was clipped by another vehicle whose driver seemed to be in an erratic state. He chose to follow the vehicle, which ended up crashing on the 190 near Niagara Street.
Damon quickly discovered that the female driver was in severe distress and sprung into action, getting her out of the vehicle and starting CPR - she did not have a pulse. When first responders arrived, they continued his life-saving efforts, ensuring the woman survived the incident.
Dr. Michael Edbauer, the president of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, hailed Damon as the epitome of a good neighbor for his bravery and quick thinking. He further underscored the importance of CPR training, and along with their partners at the Buffalo Bills, recognized Damon's efforts.
Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and Damar Hamlin celebrated Damon’s heroic actions by providing him with Super Bowl LVIII tickets. The Buffalo School Superintendent, Dr. Tonja M. Williams, expressed her pride and delight in this gesture, applauding Damon’s swift response to save a life. She reiterated the importance of CPR training, highlighting that you never know when such skills might save someone’s life.
