A year after a severe on-field injury in Cincinnati left him fighting for his life, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is reminiscing about his close call. To mark the first anniversary of his extraordinary survival, Hamlin added a new tattoo to his collection.
Hamlin sustained a life-threatening injury on January 2nd, 2023, when he collapsed at Paycor Stadium after a strong blow to his chest. The impact caused cardiac arrest, but quick intervention from emergency personnel kept him alive and he was swiftly taken to the University of Cincinnati Hospital for medical care.
A year after the incident, Till The End Tattoos shared a photo of the special tattoo they designed for Hamlin. It depicts a heartbeat rhythm embraced by two hands shaped into a heart.
In the past year, Hamlin has raised awareness for the importance of learning CPR as well as honoring those who helped save his life. In November, Hamlin announces that his foundation, Chasing M's, would be providing scholarships to the ten first responders, physicians, and nurses who played pivotal roles in saving his life.
Following his remarkable recovery, Hamlin returned to play for the Buffalo Bills in 2023, appearing in five games so far. His exceptional recovery and return to form have put him in the list of contenders for the Comeback Player of the Year award.
