A Buffalo-area man has been charged by the FBI with illegally possessing ammunition after authorities discovered a firearm, ammunition, and suspected drugs in his luggage at Buffalo Niagara International Airport. Adam Miller, who has a prior conviction for manslaughter, was apprehended on October 10th when his checked bag was inspected.
According to an affidavit from FBI Task Force Agent Thomas C. Dewey II, Miller was found to be in possession of a pistol without a serial number and 33 rounds of 9mm ammunition. Additionally, the luggage contained what appeared to be baggies of heroin.
Miller, who was convicted in 1998 for manslaughter related to a fatal motor vehicle accident, informed officers at the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority police station that he had assembled the firearm by ordering the parts online. He admitted to not having a permit to possess the weapon.
Due to his prior felony conviction, Miller is prohibited from legally possessing firearms or ammunition. His manslaughter conviction stems from an incident on August 5th, 1997, when his van flipped over and landed on the car of 21-year-old Shanna M. Manfreda, an Erie Community College student, resulting in her death.
