On Saturday May 12th, Niagara Falls Firefighters were called upon to assist the New York State Park Police in recovering a body found at the Niagara Gorge.
The Park Police received a report of a body floating in the lower Niagara River, prompting the dispatch of firefighters to the scene at approximately 12:22 pm. The body was found in an area between Whirlpool State Park and the Whirlpool Bridge.
With the joint efforts of firefighters and park police officers, the body was successfully retrieved from the water and transported to the top of the gorge. The body was handed over to the coroner so that the identification process can begin.
The incident is under investigation and no further details are available at this time.
