Niagara Falls Police responded to the 2900 block of 20th Street around 12:30am on July 27th after reports of a hate crime involving the vandalism of a vehicle with offensive language.
Upon arrival, police spoke to the complainant who stated his car was vandalized last night. He took officers to the back of the residence where they observed a 2019 black Ford Taurus in the rear parking space with “major damage” to the vehicle.
Officers observed red spray paint inside and outside of the vehicle with obscene words such as “nig*er” and “Trump.” There were key scratch marks all around the vehicle’s exterior. All interior seats were torn apart with multiple rips in each seat. Lastly, both front tires were slashed and flattened.
The complainant told police that he went to a family member’s house on July 26th after returning from playing in a pool tournament and stayed the night. When he came outside today, he observed the vehicle to be vandalized.
He believes the doors to the vehicle might have been unlocked overnight but does not think anything was taken. He also does not know who would vandalize the car, which belongs to his wife. The vehicle was estimated to be worth $20,000 and the cost to repair everything between $3,500 and $5,000.
Officers searched the area for cameras that could have caught this incident with negative results. No suspects are known at this time. No further information is available - Black Male Targeted in Hate Crime: Truck Torn Apart and Spray Painted 'Nig*er.'
