Attempted Vehicle Theft and Abduction of 1-month-old Baby in Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls Police responded to Office Depot on May 29th around 8:30pm after reports of an attempted vehicle theft and abduction of a 1-month-old baby.

Upon arrival, police spoke with the complainant who stated a black male stole her purse and then stole her vehicle with a 1-month-old child inside - albeit he did not make it out of the parking lot.

The complainant had parked her 2024 Chevrolet Trex directly in front of the business. She was “running” into the store to fax a paper and while inside noticed a male inside her vehicle backing it up.

The complainant ran out of the store and began to yell at the suspect that her baby was inside the vehicle. As he drove away, she ran through the parking lot screaming as loud as she could. The complainant’s purse containing her NYS driver’s license and key fob to the vehicle was with the suspect.

The suspect ultimately stopped the car before leaving the plaza. Upon exiting he could be heard saying, “he’s such an idiot,” clearly referring to himself. The male suspect was wearing a ski mask and, after talking to an eye-witness, was working with a female to canvas potential vehicles in the parking lot.

The suspect was not located by law enforcement and remains at-large. No further information is available at this time.
