Assistant District Attorney Charged with Official Misconduct, Fired from Office

Det'Lenci N. Shannon-Brown, a former assistant district attorney in Erie County, has been charged with official misconduct and terminated from his position. The arrest was carried out by Buffalo police on Wednesday night.

During a news conference at Buffalo Police Headquarters on Thursday, District Attorney Michael Keane disclosed that Shannon-Brown is accused of sharing confidential information with a longtime friend, who is a convicted felon. The charge of official misconduct is classified as a misdemeanor.

Shannon-Brown's tenure at the DA's office has been marked by a rapid progression. Initially joining as an intern, he returned to the office after passing the bar exam and had been serving in the Buffalo City Court Bureau since June.

In a related incident, Shannon-Brown was stopped by Erie County sheriff's deputies on Forest Avenue on Wednesday. He was charged with driving while impaired by drugs, with deputies alleging that he was smoking marijuana while driving.
